Using the new streamlined quality presets, and then fine-tuning the settings before saving them in a new ‘.vropt’ file is the recommended approach. Some outdated parameters may cause unexpected results. The FBX files that did open were created in Blender or Autodesk’s FBX converter utility. Loading ‘.vropt’ or ‘.visopt’ files created in previous V-Ray versions is not recommended. I’m almost certain the ASE files that won’t open were created with a Sketchup plugin, whereas the one that did open was created in 3DS max. I opened the SketchUp file and purged unused stuff which reduced the LO file by more than 83 and made things start behaving. I just looked at a LayOut file for someone else. The problem must originate with variations in the file format because the collection of files I’m testing were created by different people using different software. Upload the file to Drop Box and share the link.

Since the last post I’ve gotten several FBX files to open, but only the one ASE file. My friend who sent me the file has the same problem when trying to open it. Tried to open it every way possible and also to import into another, empty, model. I managed to get one ASE file to import, but many many more did not… and none of the FBX files would open either.Ĭan you supply an email address where I can send a few of the files that won’t open so somebody can see if the files are saved in a format that is slightly different than the one your extension understands? Most of the ASE files were generated by the same Sketchup plugin… and most of the FBX files were generated by Blender in one of the older variants, not the current FBX format. I need it to open and rework it for a project but when trying to open it only makes SU crash immediately, the model wont even open for 1 second. I DL the latest version, (which was slightly newer) and installed it.
Sketchup 17 won open file pro#
I checked, and the version I had loaded WAS the pro version. Nicola, Thanks for taking time to help! I appreciate that!
